BOCA
RATON, FL. DataMax Systems Solutions, a recognized leader
in the retail technology industry, announced today the sale of RTS,
a centralized payment processing software application, to Ultramar
Diamond Shamrock Corporation (NYSE:UDS).
RTS
is a multi-purpose, state-of-the-art electronic payment-processing
application. It is NT-based and designed to provide payment authorization,
enterprise data delivery, and real-time messaging from remote locations,
over any existing communication infrastructure.
"It
is estimated that the likely payback period for this project is
12 months or less," said Doris Beaulieu of UDS. "Savings
will be realized immediately through reduced processing fees associated
with electronic payment transactions and cost reductions in communications."
Ultramar
Diamond Shamrock Corp., with about $17.0 billion in annual revenues
and more than 20,000 employees, is one of the largest independent
refining and marketing companies in North America. The company operates
seven refineries in the United States and Canada with a total throughput
capacity of 850,000 barrels per day and has over 5,000 branded retail
gasoline/convenience merchandise stores in 20 states and 6 Canadian
provinces, the majority of which are branded Diamond Shamrock, Ultramar,
Beacon or Total. The corporation also has growing petrochemicals
and home heating oil businesses.

began the work this summer, with the pilot taking less than 90 days
